High Fly
There is little we won’t try
To get rid of an indoor fly
Being me, I wait a bit
First, and try to talk to it
One race to another race
Ask it to stay out my face
After that I cast my eye
Around for something else to try
This morning, pulled out of my book
Thought I might have what it took
To put that pesky little dude
In somewhat mellower mood
I’d been drawing inspiration
For a new poem’s creation
From the ancient sacred herb
When it saw fit me disturb
Blowing some into its face
I watched it slow its frantic pace
Landing near my seated bed
Thought I saw it shake its head
It almost seemed it had been brought
To more profound level of thought
The way it stayed just lounging there
Gazing into empty air
After I’d blown it one more
(And a third puff therebefore)
Somewhat overwhelming he
Found those clouds of smoke to be
Prepping by a minor hobble
Took off with a major wobble
Thus my good karma evince:
I have not seen that fly since!
