Footsteps of a Master

In awe we seekers watch the Master walk
From our more relatively humble place
Aspiring souls among us love to talk
Of its serenity and of its grace

Tranquilly do his robes around him fall
A testament to holy dignity
How very much alike him do we all
Passionately desire someday to be

Observe the concentration in his face
Directing all attention inwardly
As smoothly forward he continues pace
How imperturbable he seems to be

That little smile as he perambulates
Cause me to suspect him has begun
Of knowing the illusion he creates
By progress act’ually painstaking won ~

That what appears as sure security
Of understanding from the very start
In fact a thousand small adjustments be
According to instructions learned by heart

From unrelenting inner listening
In the most abject of humility
For each instruction meditation bring
Between bend of one, then the other knee
