Into Complacent Doom

Why are you still speaking?
Can’t you see the television?
I am sure those scriptwriters
Don’t need your revision

Why are you not lapsing
To quiescent trance?
The rest of us are much relieved
When we get the chance!

You wish how my day went
For some reason to know?
It went as modern days among us
Almost always go

I hate my boss, I hate my job
I hate my fellow employees
They hate me too until they can
Get back to their TV’s

And then forget, forget, forget
They waste a third their food
Which could be feeding someone hungry
In their neighborhood

Forget they really do not like
Those with whom they dwell,
Forget most of the time these days
That they’re not feeling very well

That mornings find them crabby
And evenings find them dull
Of violence and shallow sitcoms
And disasters overfull

But at least they are relieved
Of necessity relate
To people close around them
Who also don’t feel great!

What you doing, bringing your
Conversation to a room
Sunken has this long time been
Into complacent doom?
