Thousand Yard Stare

When I wander anywhere
In this world of my despair
Of this I have become aware:
Sometimes I other people scare

Though my intent’s
Beneficent
Soulfully meant
To kindness present

This life, full up of want and care,
Of meditation midst despair
Eternal of disaster ‘ware
Has earned me that thousand-yard stare…
