Three years ago, the poet accepted shelter in the spare room of an old family friend.

15,000 miles later he is still making life hell for her, every single day and night.

*****

I Talk About it a Lot

I let her stay
In my spare room

I talk about it a lot

We were never lovers

But I don’t hesitate
To insinuate it

She paid half my total rent
Bought her own food
Paid her own expenses
Brought gifts for the household

I don’t mention that at all

Nor
When I had made her stay
Unendurable
Did I refund her
Rent contribution

But

On her way out
I did accuse her
Of theft

This poet presently lives at a fraction of her nation’s poverty level.
