Don’t think of going for groceries as a pleasure outing?
Bet we can make you think of it that way in retrospect.
From a place and time…
When there is no more store.
Or there is a store, but no groceries in it.
Or there are groceries, but no one can afford to buy them.
… Or your way is lined with bombed out, ruined, injured, screaming, starving people…

Pleasure Outing
Over here and over there
Flowers growing everywhere!
Seems about a thousand more
Than were just the day before
Looking, just as smelling ~ sweet
Pilgrimaging eyes to meet
Feel caressing tender breeze
The perspiring forehead please
Such a healthy glow is won
Striding forward in the sun
Yes, the journey’s well begun
Smiling at most everyone
Nor responses suffer lack ~
Most of those good folks smile back
Friendly “good morning” to say
As we walk our dreaming way
As we have so oft before
Going to the local store
Thoroughly exhausted when
We find ourselves at home again ~
Entertainment funds may lack
But of pleasure have the knack
Such may every moment win
Walking true gratitude in
