Traditional, Conditional and Unconditional Love

Traditional:

There is no such thing
As true love

It is an illusion

Forget the whole idea
While you are as young as possible

And get on with being
An adult

Conditional:

Are you thinking about me?
What are you thinking about me?
How can I get you to think about me
More than you ever think about anyone else?

I need you to think about me
Me, just me, all the time
You must prove it
By never even looking
At anyone else

Because if you do that simple
Natural thing
Even once, ever,
I’ll be devastated

Tell you you’re worse
Than worthless
Worse
And all of our friends
Will agree with me

The question/accusation
“Are you having fun without me?”
Was invented for us
And millions of others
Millions of others
Millions of others
Millions of others
Un-
Just,
Like us

Unconditional:

ARE you having fun without me?
You are?
Good!
I sure hope so.
Why would I want someone I love
Not to be having fun?

I sure am!
Having fun, that is
Got great stories to share later
Bet you will too

Sure looking forward
Sure
Looking forward
To spending
The best part of
Time
With you
