The Pen is Mightier

Unwelcoming shopkeepers
Presently excuse
Rudeness by employees
Whom themselves amuse
By service with a smile nor
Reas’nability refuse

Operators staffing help desks
Endlessly on snooze
Bringing you off hold
To understatedly abuse,
Whom afterward transcript entire
Of their helpfulness recuse…

I come from a day in which
The “customer was always right”
Shopping entertainment was
A pleasant afternoon’s delight
~ That same customer finds herself
Today in very different plight!

They’ll not listen to your complaint
For one moment, honey,
If from sleeping in the cold
Your poor nose is runny
And ragged clothing tells ’em
You have not got any money

With which your truth to clearly say
Since you cannot a lawyer pay
For your redress to find a way
The area is always gray
In status quo forever stay
Tomorrow same as is today

It’s a sad but simple truth
Businesspeople that obtuse
Have not caught up with the news
Don’t need lawyers any more
Google evens up the score
Even an indigent can write reviews
