I Saw My Ship Come Sailing In

I saw my ship come sailing in
It’s been so long
Hope I’m not wrong
Perhaps I will a life begin
I sense new pleasures a-borning!

Just let me make sure of the mark
Here beside
Upon its side
It’s hard to see in all this dark
So early in the morning

Oh, could it be
What’s this I see?
This lantern’s glow it barely show
This is so wrong — that mark belongs
To someone else’s adorning

I thought my ship came sailing in
Came sailing in
Came sailing in
And I would my new life begin
But now I’m ba-ack in mourning!
