Flamenco Sky

I’ve been working many hours
Waked the Muse at midnight by
Soon the black-eyed Susans
Open will each sleepy eye

Then will they and all the blossoms’
Crumpled petals soft uncurl
As the morning’s glowing banners
Over their sweet heads unfurl

Having writ the whole night through
Suddenly, even weary I
Feel a new burst of energy
Beneath this bright flamenco sky
