Some Things Truly Are Eternal

How can, when the sun is coming
O’er the mountain, anyone
Think of anything but glory
Since this world was first begun?

I know my prehistoric sister
Sat upon her stoop this way
Reveling in warmth and golden
Brightness of her ancient day

Everywhere there is a mountain
Everywhere a place to sit
Someone, rapt in meditation
From its beauty benefit

Some things truly are eternal
Out from Chronus’ with’ring touch
Sunshine streaming o’er a mountain
Surely must be one of such
