In the opinion this mere poet of
We have lost sight of what it means to love

Seldom anyone look to find a match
Rather, with rolling eyes, seeking a catch

Someone to make us look good others to
(Since of ourselves we have but dim a view)

Less wishing to a treasured soul complete
Than with our peers victorious compete

Behind steeled smiles clamp any heartache down
The moment it is time to go to town

Any excuse sufficient to delay
Th’exchange should wish to most attention pay

Sith even our true love hath naught sublime
Well, we can (and do) argue anytime

Unless we’re silent watching our TV
Hypnotised unto catatony

What are these “partnerships” cold hatred of
Which pass among us in the name of love?
