We Brought the Darkness Under

You think because I always mean you well
No matter what your mood might mean for me,
Because I always choose the truth to tell
Saying only, exactly, what I see,

Because I sometimes act apparently
To mine own interests oppositely
Perceiving, as I do, the whole good be
Also eventually good for me,

You think that I must be a shallow soul
Unacquainted my spirit’s darkness with,
Awareness lacking of my human whole ~
Allow me to inform you, then, forthwith

The darkest souls of all, fine arts are in:
We brought that darkness under discipline
