Fall Down Seven Times
Do you work early and late
Harder than you can relate
Try before you get to heaven
To accomplish something great
Pausing only life to leaven
And the self re-enervate
But an hour or two abate
Ere commence another spate
Lofty visions animate
‘Mid dismayingly ingrate
Egos needing to inflate
Loungers idly profligate
Block the necessary gate
Your momentum to deflate
Some misguided spirits even
Pathside standing to berate,
At your feet expectorate,
Your high mission to negate?
This, in Japan, is how they say’t:
“Fall down sev’n times, stand up eight.”
