Commercial advertising conspires to keep up in a cycle of perpetual longing. Do we ever pause enough to take satisfaction in what we have indeed already achieved?

Now That You Have What You Wished For
Remember when you were but small
And knew if you could just be tall
You’d be on tip-top of it all?
When you could go from here to there,
Spend your precious minutes where
You wished, nor constantly beware
Of limitations parental ~
If all your days and nights were full
Of acts to you amenable
Choosing what you wish to wear,
Whether care or not to care
About things others of beware,
Hanging out with people who,
Sympathetic to your view,
See life similarly too
Buy what you would buy and own
Independent, sovreign grown ~
A pleasure you had never known?
Now you have each longed-for thing
Happy maturity bring ~
Do you let them make your heart sing?
