“They”

It is most unusual
Yes, it’s passing rare,
Although I have looked everywhere,
To find e’en those of pity full

Free of need to place some folk
Lower than the rest
Some the “worst” and some the “best”
Some to kiss and some to poke

They do not enjoy
The felicity
Of authenticity,
So artifice employ

Eternally wary
To disguise
That which the unwise
Score arbitrarily:

In one neighborhood
If you wear blue
Everybody thinks that you
Must be up to no good;

See, she wears her jewelry
Somewhat larger,
Clothing smaller,
Than is held acceptably;

He likes kissing other men;
She dies her hair pink;
Independent this one think
For herself, and then

Act upon with certainty
Her examined self-belief
Bringing same relief
To friend as enemy…

There are almost none can say
Among us, sadly, here today,
As tragic as it is to say,
That they don’t have a “They”

This poet works for the good of her nation and society, seven days a week.

She’s in a pretty bad fix right now ~ already homeless, and now the van she lives in has stopped running. Not a hope of fixing it without donations. One ticket is death. Real.

Arts patrons may visit http://www.UgiftABLE.com to make donations of any amount, using code 72D-31S. It will take about two weeks for the poet to be notified of your patronage.

International donors should contact her through these comments or the contact page address on this site for special instructions.

Thank you for supporting quality in the fine arts.
