… Or did you refuse even to meet their eyes?
This poet can’t get behind the way a lot of the homeless act. But then, she can’t get behind the way a lot of businessmen act, either.

Out of the Woods
Now
That the Powers
That Be
Are actually
Publicly
Threatening to
Push that button
It’s time to stop calling
People like me
Paranoid.
Right?
Okay?
We all understand
Better now
I hope
Just how suddenly
And completely
And in how many ways
And for how many reasons
Those megamarket trucks
Might stop running.
We all know
We’d be surrounded, then
By the
Freaked out
Clueless
Modern effete
As well as by those
Who prey
Upon them.
Who will come
Out of the woodwork
To save us all
From ourselves?
Those who have already
Relearned the simple
If you know them, not so
Simple if you don’t
Skills of survival amid the
Spirited elementals, and
Explored the potentials
For healing of wounds
Inner and outer
From naught but our friends
The flowers and bees
And colors and sounds and
Crystals, and
Experienced
With excruciating
Unremitting
Very, very personal
Immediacy
The unnecessarily
Sorrowful harvest
Of any justice
Less than complete, and
Have
Become accustomed
To taking self responsibility
In community maintenance?
Could it be…
The homeless?
And have they had
Any reason
At all
To think of you
As a friend
Lately?
Because
You’d sure wish they
Did, then.

This poet works passionately for the good of her nation and society, seven days a week.
She’s in a pretty bad fix right now ~ already homeless, and now the van she lives in has stopped running. Not a hope of fixing it without donations. One ticket is death. Real.
Arts patrons may visit http://www.UgiftABLE.com to make donations of any amount, using code 72D-31S. It will take about two weeks for the poet to be notified of your patronage.
International donors should contact her through these comments or the contact page address on this site for special instructions.
Thank you for supporting quality in the fine arts.
