Scintillating Stars
There be two ways to gather from
The stream of life what wisdoms be
One is to travel far away
Many foreign lands to see
Which get along from day to day
Doing things differently
Than those ways in which we have come
Among us to agree
The other — I have seen this done —
Is to remain right where you stand
Not needing to roam restlessly
From land to sea to land
For one almost as much may see,
Just as much understand,
An equal wisdom may be won
Much closer to ones hand
Ay, humans tend the same to be
Wherever they may live
The takers find their ways to take
The givers theirs to give
And those who may fair mention make
Teach others how to live —
How more happiness they may see
With statements positive
And some of those get itchy feet
And feel the need to travel far
To find what other people do
Wherever it is that they are
And others, staying nearer to
Whom traveling abhor
Still find in everyone we meet
A scintillating star
