While she herself is definitely not a person who can aspire to any of these accomplishments, the poet has ridden with drivers whom she watched awestruck as they pinched, rolled, lit and smoked, all using just one hand and sitting right next to an open window ~ while traveling at highway speeds ~ and all without ever taking their eyes off the road (!)

Rollin’ Across America

Long as we’re in the Great Plains
No one grouches or complains
Rolling goes just like we would
Think it always should

‘Cause we’re in the midlands, when
Altitude and oxygen
With the dew point will combine
To make it smoke just fine…

No one will find us at fault
If of a little sand and salt
Any rolling job must boast
When it’s made on either coast

When we’re rolling in Seattle
We precipitation battle
Every day of every season
Which will turn into the reason

We must roll with sixteen papers
If we wish to any vapors
From that rolling then inhale
Or those rolling jobs will fail

And the thing will sadly sag,
Like a punctured plastic bag,
Limply to linger
Over a finger

But we won’t stop there, of course
Up the mountains? Even worse!
There isn’t sufficient air
To achieve combustion there

We must roll, then, just as loose
As that proverbial goose
And be ready long to fight it
Before we ever get it lighted

But it’s there we really should
Linger to get twice the good
From the inhalative practice
By which we better connect us

With celest’ial lightness, for
It benefits us even more ~
More bang for our buck we win ~
Where the air is nice and thin!

Whether we’re venturing forth
East or West or South or North
It’s always an adventure, bruh,
When rolling ‘cross America
