Failure to Pay

You’ve failed to pay court to the pundits
Failed to bend the knee
To look adoring
While they’re boring
You about as stiff as stiff can be

Generate no plaudits
Ultrawillingly
While they drone
As though alone
Super’ior in your company

While they write one
You write a dozen
Yet respect
From you expect
More: that you actually cozen

But since you have not done
That by which fame is won
You will find out
That they have clout —
You’re anonymous, hon!
