It’s Memorex

Statististics notwithstanding
“Evidence” aside
When it comes to our memories
We stand on foolish pride

Never mind our own police
Get no two to relate
Eyewitnessed scenarios
Identically straight

We still put selves and one another
On the witness stand
And absolute “accuracy”
Endlessly demand

Never mind that science gives us
Multiple reality —
Participation in our own’s
The only one that’s “sanity”

We’ve sought the deepest reaches
Of outer space to roam,
But not begun to understand
Reality right here at home
