Why Can’t I be Perfect?
Why can’t I be perfect
Like my best friend is?
She can do makeup
Just like a wiz
All my peeps on Facebook
Are looking very good
Like ~ if I were as perfect
As every one of them ~ I would
Love scenes in the movies
Gosh, I adore those
No one seems to have to figure
Out where they should put their nose
And when they are embracing
Comf’table and warm
They don’t seem to burdened be
With an extra arm
Why can’t I be perfect?
I’m supposed to be ~
Heaven knows I try for it
Frenetically!
Every nail is polished
Every curl is glued
I’m chirpy and I’m upbeat
In my attitude
Follow all my orders
Make sure I’m “in style”
Trend where I am told to ~
Yet, somehow, all the while
I’m looking at the genuine
Unvarnished reality
Of myself, and seeing it
Always imperfectly!
Around me, expectation
All the livelong day ~
I’m supposed to be perfect
How do I get that way?
