Fake it Till You Make It
Can’t quite “get”
A practice yet?
You’re pretty sure
Its source is pure
And that it
Would benefit
Your seeking for
Celest’ial lore
Or
Something more
Practical,
Like thinking well
Never can tell
When some advice
Mental device
Designed more clarity to bring
Might change just about everything
Seeming to penetrate the haze
Benefitting future days
So if a change of attitude —
Perhaps a bit more gratitude
Or a greater presence in
The moment — you’d like to begin
But haven’t yet quite figured out
How to go its way about,
Best angle from which it pursue,
Or benefits it might accrue,
This poet say:
Make into play
What serious
Might be a fuss
To get into
No reason you
Can’t check it out
Discover what it’s all about
Wear the clothing, strut the strut
Find out all the scuttlebutt
And as you exploring go
Some new people get to know
If you find
It ease your mind,
With your spirit resonates,
Sense of comfort it creates
Then you’ve got your answers to
Those pesky questions with which you
Began to try that practice on,
Its benefits rising upon
Understandings you have won
Having thus begun
Your good new pathway well upon
