This poet has always seen human beauty in a different way than perhaps do most.
In High School, when someone introduced her to a reigning beauty queen, her private reaction was confusion: What’s beautiful about that?
There was an absence of anything which could commonly be called imperfection, of course.
But nothing else.
What the poet saw was a generic human face.
A blank.
In the midst of all the beautiful twisty trees, both blossoming and barren, with their twirling murmuring translucent leaves and singing birds ~
~ a telephone pole.
Real beauty has bumps. Areas of discoloration. Abundances. Wisdoms. Individuality. It comes in amazing packages, small, large, dark, fair, male, female…
But ~ in this poet’s opinion, anyway ~ when one makes the attempt to put all of it together in one place and eliminate anything else, what one gets isn’t beauty at all.
Forget that plastic fake media facsimile of perfection.
It’s about as far from real perfection as it gets.
Go for real.
Go for authentic.
Go for your unique, irreplaceable, genuine caring wonderful Self.
Shine that out.
See what comes back to you then.
