Asleep at the Wheel

I’d just like to say a word
About being terminally bored
Beginning with the classrooms
Through which we basely snored

Finding when return we roam
Parental diatribe at home
The eyes cross and the fingers twitch
The teeth clench, the lips foam

But that’s okay, our life plans state
Eventually we’ll graduate
Then solitude we will enjoy
And freedom celebrate

… After we get through with greeting,
And the preferential seating
Ready to listen again
Through an interminable meeting

After which we will unbend
A cocktail event attend
At which we will skillfully
Every one pretend

We are fascinated by
Each manipulative lie
And account vacation of
Which happens to come by

But then we are out of the rough
We have surely had enough
Home to turn on the TV
And watch the same old stuff!
