From Hemingway to Tesla
From Dinshah to our day
Circumstance mysterious
Seems to get in the constant way

Of certain souls which history
Enjoys itself of sing
Whom, when unto their lives we
Close examination bring,

We find at every turn they met
Barriers unfath’mable
By which, they must have been convinced,
More common life cannot be full

Discredited and disempow’red,
Looked back to find accumulate
A record of the opposite
Of all they in their lives create

Unempow’red to know the truth
They died while yet in doubt ~
But time hath had the final word:
Posterity figures it out
