Dear Endeavor

At the drawing close of this
Difficult but fruitful day
This poet is more grateful
Than she can, weary, say

Falsehood is exposed
Vindicated has been truth
And, come those convolutions from,
Some guidance for our youth

Connections strengthened, changes made
New understandings we create
Past points of conflict now the light
Of love illuminate

Can we keep what has been won?
Can we hold it whole and well,
This dear endeavor rebegun?
Only time will tell.
