Awesome Price
I’ve known too much survival
And too little gain
So if my arrival
Causes eyes a little pain
From this bright light now shining
On what had been before kept dark
Dim secrets divining
Necessitate a little work
On formerly effective
Methods of “don’t ask, don’t tell” ~
Spare us the invective,
Just determine to do well
From here henceforward, just as all
The rest of us have had to do
When our inevitable falls
Our life’s companions had to view
No growth occurs without mistake
Nor mine, nor any other
We every one must error make
Disappointing one another
It’s what we do with what we learn
Which merit doth accrue
And for us enlightenment earn
For me as much as is for you
So if the purifying fire
Of this life’s crucible
Hath left no trace of base desire,
This soul of Light now only full
Seek not to drag it down to you
By gossiping device
Remember what it has been through
To pay the awesome price
Do not from galactic such
Common platitudes expect
This strength has overcome too much
It deserves respect
