Control Your Thoughts

Control your thought
For what you think
Will be what you say

Whether or not
Think you ought
Spontaneous, in play,

To people near
You thus commit
An attitude unto

The meaning’s clear
Of words they hear
Coming out of you

Though might regret
The expectations
Which you so create,

Yet don’t correct
(Friends might reject
To what cannot relate),

That golden truth
First time around
Which you could not avow ~

Your way’s not smooth,
For in good sooth
It’s even harder now

The path you’ve set
Onward winding
Less and less sublime

It will get
Rockier yet
When it’s action time

When those same folk
Expect you will
Your words then carry through

With covert poke
With hurtful joke
They’ll be counting on you

If you’d been strong
Enough to brave
Aught simple frown

To right a wrong
Those folks among
You’d put this moment down

But as things are
You have become
So weak, in fact,

No shining star
You’ll go that far ~
You’ll go ahead and act

So now it’s true
All of your friends
Give you the prize

Well pleased with you
And themselves too
But you yourself despise…

Control your thought
It speech becomes
And action too

And, friend, it’s not
That you’ve not brought
The karma down on you

If someone be
Seeming beneath,
Apparent less ~

Appropriately,
Empathy
Their burdens with we bless

Keeping the mind
And thus the word
Yet more, the heart

Ego apart
To play from start
To ending our true part

Control your thoughts
For only thus we ever see
Genuine tranquility
