Might in Error
A poet is relied upon
Endlessly to celebrate
All that poet comes upon
All to which relate
Times when she is wrong as well
As times when she is right
Times of disillusionment
Times of joy and fright
Times when there confusion be
Elements all out of hand
Insufficient information
Giv’n to understand
Times when in surrounding darkness
She must open be
To every single small
Potential possibility
It isn’t that she gets it wrong
That causes commonly a fright:
It’s how uncannily she gets it
Absolutely right.
And if her canny sight
In short term seems to fail
Some small consideration
Some insignificant detail
If, other than behind her back,
This were pointed of her out,
She’d probably point out right back
That legitimate doubt
Exists about the simplest
Most basic’lly perceived
“Obvious knowledge” at one time
“Everyone” believed
So when regarded logically
It appears quite possibly
Some things you think self-evident
Might in error be
