To Whom Tomorrow Belongs

I remind me of Nicola Tessla
Don’t I remind you?
Surrounded all his life
By forces no name were put to

When history, of course,
Reflects the mystery upon,
It’s pretty clear that name
Was Thomas Alva Edison

So now we pay, and dearly —
Fork it up right through the nose (ow!)
Find ourselves, at prospect
Of a cut-off, deep in panic’s throes

For that with which to run
Our households’ electricity —
If we had listened Tessla to
All of that would be ours for free

They hounded him out of his lab
They hounded him to poverty:
“You may have today,” he cried
“Tomorrow belongs to me!”
