Making People Happy

I can’t seem to make folks happy
Intentionally
By any action I might take
Directly, consciously

No amount of selflessness
In the service of the all
Causes me within their realm
Of acceptability to fall

No conscientious truth
No amount of love
Suffices me be in their eyes
Any user scum above

I have this comfort, though — of knowing
Every enemy
Simply by my suffering
Very happy be
