The circumstances of this poet’s years online have been such that ~ if she had permitted any excuse whatever for a day of work not done ~ not one of her several thousand pages of original works, nor their tens of thousands of postings across half a dozen sites, would have come to manifestation.

A Little Under the Weather
There’s always some great reason
Not to do the Work
To leave it for some other season
“Just today” to shirk
We aren’t really — if we were
The present truth to tell
(Self-interest to infer) —
Feeling very well
The path that we must take toward
That Work’s a little steep
We’d actually have preferred
To get, last night, a bit more sleep
As soon as we went to it
We’d just have to take,
Before we even might pursue it,
Our first little break
To minister to hovering
And impending pains
Voluntary labors bring —
Erasing any gains
We might be able to accomplish
By mere diligence —
Better wait another day
Unwelcome projects to commence
For once they were begun, then
We would have to carry through
Or invent more excuses, when
We find we are too lazy to!
