Unluxurious Convenience

In those parts of the world we’re pleased to call
“Primitive,” living in temperate clime,
They did not have too hard a life at all
(Compared with which ours is not so sublime

As we congratulate ourselves upon) —
Their av’rage work week two to four days were,
But two to six hours daily spent upon
Any activity they not prefer

Yet ate, and had some left to give away,
As was the universal custom where
Each had a home, plenty of time for play,
And of own children took maternal care

To unluxurious convenience grown:
Compared with happy theirs, such is our own
