An Unique Perspective

I offer an unique perspective ~
Somehow, I have been allowed
Among the worst and best to live
With moral sense unbowed

Selling not the body, nor substances,
Nor the word,
Uncompromised by offered chances
Lift myself above the herd

By contract of nondisclosure
By convenient platitude
Commonly accepted posseur
Or complacent attitude

Of many deeds I’ve been accused
Which I did not commit ~
With right’s behavior unamused,
Wrong ever seeks to smother it

But in spite of all I have 
Through this life been assaulted by
At this celest’ial moment
Among us, here stand I

Who really have among the
‘Other half’ gone walking and,
If anyone qualified be
Our demographic truths command

In form understandable be
To both its denizens and you,
That individual is me
This is simply true

From halls of civilized discourse
And gracious gilded pow’r
To homes whose focus is to force
Survival hour by hour by hour

From priv’ledge to privation
From visionaries to the blind
From plenty to starvation
From needless cruelty to the kind

The angry, the insightful,
Those stooping and those walking tall
The criminal and the delightful ~
I’ve eaten dinner with them all

It always seems so sudden when
Into history there pass
An opportunity which then
We wonder why we thought would last

In my case, daily danger
And vehicular decay
And shifting homeless regulations
May come to take me away

At any moment ~ so if you
Advantage wish to take
Of what, of all this preview,
I might as contribution make

From this unique perspective
Both compromised and pure,
Universal and selective,
Tested, tried and sure,

To lend some balance to your studies,
Messages on your TV,
And the input of your buddies 
From someone who has been there ~ me

You might wish avail yourselves to
Of what wisdoms may be made
Available while there’s still time to
Do, before time’s dimming shade

Submerges the illumination
For this whole there might have been
Assistive of an elevation
Societal to begin
