Done to Bits
I pray humanity indeed ascend
Its past transgressions seek to mend
And do so speedily, before
We have no planet any more
We presently ignore each little scare
By which nature bids be well ware
While we continue still to do
To Earth as one another to
Assume the very worst, and take the best
Use what’s right to hand and leave the rest
Explode whatever’s in our way
Then leave our garbage to decay
Upon our world’s most lovely pristine beaches
Hulk on factory hulk the world teaches
Utter inconsideration is
The hallmark of big businesses
And when at work or in our homes we be
What do we with our fleeting moments free?
Forever upon the attack
Behind the hand we bite the back
We those “beneath” us love to step upon
Whilst those “above” us abject fawning on
Hoping the latter will receive us
And the former will reprieve us
An hundred joyful opportunities
Our brothers and our sisters gracious please
A smile bestow, a kind word say
We pass, ignorant, every day
And if an animal is inconvenient
Go-to behavior’s hardly lenient
Don’t care if it dies in fits —
No wonder we have done our world to bits!
