For your cheerful smile
Thankful to defenseless be
For a little while

Thankful for the harmony
Of our happy talk
No well-meant offering of mine
At which you find a cause to balk

Thankful for the peacefulness
We both seek to find,
Thankful for communion
With your open mind

Your faint gleam at tunnel’s end
This moment with will help me cope
