Only Light

Seem things stark and seem things grim
Running on at evil’s whim?

See the grime and see the grit?
See th’ abysmal lack of wit
Political leadership in?

Starting to see that we can’t win
Playing the same old, tired old, game,

Point the finger, name the name,
Try to roll yourself in clover
Taking that guy’s power over?

See the corruption, see the vice?
Look at it once, look at it twice
Then pit your every good device
Against it, while — take my advice —

Independently declare
Your Self immune from aught despair

Watch our horizons start to glow
Inwardly instinctive know
The clearer to us that filth grow
The swifter we will all that blight
Eliminate to our delight

Be not unhallowed at the sight
Keep your hope high, sweet spirits know
Your seeds of good intention sow
No matter darker shadows grow:
It’s only rising Light
