Glad Comfort
Today I will spend time with my good friend
Someone who knows I mean none aught but good
To whom I never need myself defend
By whom I am easily understood
And whom, as well, it’s effortless for me
To understand, since, if the truth I tell,
He very much alike this poet be
In that he works to make more whole and well
His friends, his city, country and his All,
Laboring for that end unceasingly,
Nor doth allow his watchful heart to fall
Into the quicksands of complacency
Neither need stiff society pretend:
Glad comfort is the hallmark of a friend

Until removal of the stalker/targeter/vandal/arsonist following her allows her to approach any landlord ~ even for a private parking space ~ and to begin once again to create professional connections and to rebuild her life, this poet presently lives homeless and at a fraction of her nation’s poverty level.
