Utterly Flagrant Cocreation
Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay…
I think I maybe get it now — let’s see
If anyway or anyhow
I might be able more effectively
Than in the past my fledgling skills employ
Felicity domestic to enjoy:
Universe, here’s my current thinking now —
That mansion at which the last time we talked
I said I didn’t favor anyhow;
That life of luxury at which I balked
Assuming that the comfort I’d enjoy
Must for support the discomfort employ
Of other souls? — What was I thinking of?
This universe endless abundant be!
If I desire to far enough away
From others’ acoustic inanity
Exist to write my verse, and if a few
Nicely kept rooms and nicely kept lawn, too
Between myself and them the trick will do
Will keep me happy, and keep happy they
To surely whom my need to concentrate
Seems naught but affected, entitled play
And if I must to earn such privacy
Enlarge my dreams — well, the reality
Is that dreams just don’t get much larger than
These gifts through me which come — this poetry
If any gain civilization’s won
It’s time we start to pay the likes of me
I should be famous, and I should be rich
Universe, let’s eliminate the glitch
You should be auctioning my cheapest pen
For cash enough buy back in gold again
