It’s Women’s History Month here in the United States ~ one during which this poet enjoys offering her tongue-in-cheek series on the lives of ladies who have helped to make modern life as we know it possible for all of us.

Infamous Laydeez ~ We Adoreth Thee, Dorothy!

Young Dorothea Parker
Nee Rosthchild — if you please —
Had all of high society
Upon its bended knees
Both pretty and intelligent
She did just as she please,
Till married to a financier
Was an outrageous tease

It’s true that marriage did not
Seem to slow her down a bit
Already worked in Hollywood
She knew she was a natch’l hit
And saw no needed hind’rance
About roundly flaunting it
Maturity just added to
Her devastating wit

Although delighted readers quote
Her words one coast the other to
She did not so obligingly
Her own creations view
She thought them but buffoonery
Of only base purvue
But if you said the same, she’d say
“To hell, my love, with you!”

Until removal of the stalker/targeter/vandal/arsonist following her allows her to approach any landlord ~ even for a private parking space ~ and to begin once again to create professional connections and to rebuild her life, this poet presently lives homeless and at a fraction of her nation’s poverty level ~ still working seven days a week to contribute to her society, however.

Arts patrons may visit http://www.UgiftABLE.com , using code #72D-31S, or choose to send a personal check to the poet’s ABLE account. It takes about two weeks for the poet to be notified of your patronage.

Thank you for supporting quality in the fine arts.
