Beneath the Rolling Ey

We’ve made each other lonely
Lonelier than we’ve ever been
Just by being snotty
Just by being mean

Just by always wanting to
More successful seem
Than anybody ever else
Could begin to dream

While inside we’re cringing
From people just like us
Hoping they won’t point our way
And kick up a fuss

Underneath bravado
Underneath the daring-do
Underneath the everpresent
Carelessness of you

Underneath the eye roll
The implied insult and the sneer
Is nothing more nor less than
Craven, cringing fear

We think that no one ever
Truly always could
Be telling us the truth ~
Something no one ever would!

We won’t leave harmony alone
But pick at it until we feel
That it has been brought down enough
That we’ll consider it as “real”

No matter what the bounty
By which we surrounded are
We are not satisfied until
Again we are at war

Until removal of the stalker/targeter/vandal/arsonist following her allows her to approach any landlord ~ even for a private parking space ~ and to begin once again to create professional connections and to rebuild her life, this poet presently lives homeless and at a fraction of her nation’s poverty level ~ still working to contribute to her society, however, seven days a week.
