do we seem to disagree?

i imagine
what we really might have
is

an agreement

that the subject
is significant

and that resolution lies
in a balance between
its extremes

i may see you
as overbalanced one way
and you i the other

however

might both our perceptions
be a little imbalanced themselves
by personal prejudices?

if we talked, might we find
that your balances resemble my own
much more than we might have suspected?

because what we’re doing right now
can’t really be called
talking, can it?

prevaricating
hedging
bargaining

accusing
belittling
rejecting

one another
on both sides
of just about every question for

tiny
little
differences?…
