Only Wonder

I have no wisdoms, only wonder
At this sky that we are under
At the eye which that sky sees
Lovely synchronicities
Beauties of fresh growing youth
And respect for aged truth

Taking shelter from the weather
Putting two and two together
Knowledgeable as the rest
With no dispensation blessed
Respecting conclusions you
Have come separately unto

They may differ from my own
By neither of us may be known
On any large or small pretext
What fast Fates the morning next
Capriciously will send our way —
Not a man of us can say

Sometimes something’s happening
Future cognizance will bring
Its process, once complete, to light,
Perhaps we’ll gain the most delight
From what looms tragic in the now
None of us can yet know how

Reliable predictions make
Even sciences, which take
Their counterintuitive way
Cannot our certain future say
In blindness we together go
The simple truth: we cannot know
