Personally Poetically Apolitical

Matters not the system
Matters not the creed
By which We the People
Meet communal need

Call it neo-whatever
Call it what you will
Call it family values
Call it liberal

What matters is how we all choose
Its tenets to apply
To real life situations
As they pass us by

We’re proud our independence of
Justifiably ~
Put, all the same, into a pot
Of communality

Our streetlights and our roadways
The schools our children for ~
In every single system
It’s that we must do more

Than meet its minimum
Requirements, each personally
Contributing the best that
We can do and we can be

Giving what’s exacted
And also contribution
In this way or in that way
Toward the general solution

It less important seems,
This poet to the heart’s truths of,
The naming of our effort
Than that it be applied with love

Until removal of the stalker/targeter/vandal/arsonist following her allows her to approach any landlord ~ even for a private parking space ~ and to begin once again to create professional connections and to rebuild her life, this poet presently lives homeless and at a fraction of her nation’s poverty level ~ still working to contribute to her society, however, seven days a week.
