Presently Possess

Would you be wise, with insight deep to share?
Would you be wealthy with all you desire?
Would you be well respected everywhere
And welcomed to a seat beside the fire?

Would you be light of step and bright of eye
With visage moulded by habit’ual smile
Attractive to strangers who pass you by
Cherished companion on the weary mile?

Would you be happy, would you be complete?
Wouldst greet the dawning morning full of joy?
But one act must you faithfully complete
One single technique only must employ:

It is required but that you self confess
Grateful for what you presently possess

Homeless until removal of the stalker/targeter/vandal/arsonist following her allows her to approach any landlord ~ even for a private parking space ~ this poet presently lives under perpetual threat of towing with all possessions should her 23-year-old van stop running for any reason.
