found it finally
know it because
well, it
can’t be stopped
like an inner hurricane
but warm and embracing
infinitely rewarding
even before or without any
outer reward
it’s really
all you want to do
day and night
it’s just that you know
without breaks for food
and a little recreation
you won’t be nuts but they’ll
probably put you away anyway
just for overgrown toenails
and being too content
content far beyond
the experience or
understanding of those who
have not found
this!
(whatever this is for them)
this thing they would do
night and day for no money
till they wasted away
because no kind of happiness
could be greater than this
this
service to the world
their true value
in the eyes
of whatever heaven there is
they’d better have this
there
or it’s not really heaven
this passion
this pleasure
this responsibility
this inevitability
this labor
for the duration of your life
this calling
calling
calling…

Homeless until removal of the stalker/targeter/vandal/arsonist following her allows her to approach any landlord ~ even for a private parking space ~ this poet presently lives under perpetual threat of towing with all possessions should her 23-year-old van stop running for any reason.
