Friendly Silence
In silence do I rise each morn
In silence go to sleep
At every moment of the day
I sweetly silent vigil keep
No working television
In my dwelling doth appear
No boom box, CD, stereo
In this so peaceful place I hear
Perhaps once every day or two
When social energy’s at peak
I’ll spend a short time neighbors with
Enjoyably to speak
Or venture to the little store
This charming small town in
Two conversations there at once —
A veritable din!
On other days I by myself
So full content am grown
No single word will pass these lips
Right happy am I all alone
In silence do my tumbled thoughts
Fall neatly into line
In silence, ay, a troubled heart
Remembers its intent benign
In silence do the Muses speak
In silence do I hear
The magically rhyming words
In my next poems will appear
What need have I for broadcast sounds
To while away my day
When optiphonic symphonies
In my inner ears will play?
Why would I wish for moving pictures
Merely outer eyes to please
When inner movies so exquisite
Constitute the memories
Collected in a life
Experiential living of
Real triumph and real tragedy
Real innocence, real love?
Without the mainlined media
Our populations slam
It is beyond a question
That unworldly’s what I am
Don’t understand the latest joke
Can’t name a TV star
But understand the good in living
When and Where we really Are
Total lack of entertainment
Most for, I’d not advocate
But do think folks might reexamine
When and how we recreate
Is it like a seasoning
Life’s finest flavors win
Or do we let it keep us
From true living e’er begin?
There many are whom silence hate
They’ll fight it to the end
With every kind of noise can make —
But silence is my friend

Homeless until removal of the stalker/targeter/vandal/arsonist following her allows her to approach any landlord ~ even for a private parking space ~ this poet presently lives under perpetual threat of towing with all possessions should her 23-year-old van stop running for any reason.
She is badly in need of a modest reserve with which to field any emergency which might occur.
Donors may visit http://www.UgiftABLE.com , using code #72D-31S. It does take several days for the poet to be notified of your patronage.
Thank you for supporting quality in the fine arts.
