Tell Us a Story!

“Tell us a story!”
Since the dawn of time
Since right after music came
And before rhyme

When dance was the language
To call the divine
When what’s mine was yours too
And what’s yours was mine —

We’ve gathered about
At end of our day
Comforting flames upon
Our faces play

“Give us some nourishment
For heart and mind
Of life’s greater mystery
Small selves remind

“Inspire us in harmony
To do our part
Touch us most crucially
Straight in the heart

“Help us see together
Vicariously
How different things
From as they are could be

“Circumstance foreign
Of far times rehearse —
How they might be better
How they have been worse

“Oh help us discover,
Within each, the well
Of boundless great resource
With which to do well

“Rewards of so doing
So illustrate
Keep going past wellness
Manifest great!

“Oh, tell us a story
Comfort the weak
Humble the prideful
Enable the meek

“Assure us again
That we’re not dreaming of
Actual fact’ual
Disint’rested love

“Give us the good fix
Give us the dope
Give us some easement
Give us some hope

“And if you’ve got energy
Leftover after
Before we all sleep,
Give us some laughter!”

Homeless until removal of the stalker/targeter/vandal/arsonist following her allows her to approach any landlord ~ even for a private parking space ~ this poet presently lives under perpetual threat of towing with all possessions should her 23-year-old van stop running for any reason.

She is badly in need of a modest reserve with which to field any emergency which might occur.

Donors may visit http://www.UgiftABLE.com , using code #72D-31S. It does take several days for the poet to be notified of your patronage.

Thank you for reading, and may your holidays be happy ones.
