In Orick, California, the poet lived in a very decrepit trailer with a very beautiful view. Nearby blackberries and deciduous trees gave way to pines and redwoods climbing the mountain outside her window.
Each morning as she lifted her curtain to admire the spectacular artwork of dawn, she noticed that the same two birds flew in to meet on the same branch of a nearby tree every morning.
